Fashion Design Innovation Centre
The Fashion Design Innovation Centre (FDIC) is administered by the Eastern Cape Arts & Craft Hub (ECPACC) in partnership with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC).
The Centre is a flagship initiative designed to strengthen the Eastern Cape’s fashion and textile industry by equipping emerging designers and practitioners with the technical, creative, and business skills needed to thrive.
Target Beneficiaries:
The FDIC primarily serves:

- Qualified graduates from formal tertiary institutions in fashion design.
- Fashion design practitioners already working in the sector across the province.
- Seamstresses without formal qualifications but with basic sewing skills, who are introduced to formal training at entry level to advance their capabilities.
Facilities and Services:

- Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Studio: A modern facility equipped with 10 desktop computers for digital pattern design, a digitiser for pattern grading, and a large-format plotter for printing.
- Cut-Make-Trim (CMT) Studio: A fully equipped production space with specialised sewing machines that perform various functions to start, assemble, and finish garments at professional industry standards.
